What a month February has been! I was ill for a good part of it, but fully recovered here in March and feeling excited for what is to come. With the warmer weather and last few months of my teaching career ahead of me, I'm recommitting my time and energy to painting and attempting to be less distracted. Wish me luck! Read on for some exciting announcements.
Strecker-Nelson Gallery in Manhattan, Kansas
I'm excited to announce I will be showing my portraiture in the Strecker-Nelson Gallery in Manhattan, KS. It is currently hanging in the gallery and I encourage you to go take a visit out there very soon. You can check out their website for hours of operation and location on their website: strecker-nelsongallery.com. Jay Nelson, the owner, has inspired me to create new, narrative portrait work, coming soon. I'm so thankful to have met him and his lovely wife and that he has picked up my work!
The Art Factory KC at Prairie Fire in Overland Park, Kansas
I will be creating and leading some fun classes to do with kids and some Paint and Sip parties at The Art Factory KC in Overland Park, KS. Please check out their calendar at TheArtFactoryKC.com . The next event I will lead is a Paint and Plant on March 20th where people can paint a terracotta pot and plant a small plant inside to take home that same day. See my samples in the picture below. The Art Factory is currently remodeling and I will have some paintings and prints in their gallery space soon.
KC Comic Con
I have decided to try something new this fall by participating as an artist in Kansas City Comic Con. I will have a space where I show and sell figurative sketches and paintings. Between Comic Con and my work at the Strecker-Nelson, I hope to get back to doing more narrative portraiture, something I've always loved.
Studio Lessons and Workshops
I taught my first beginner's oil painting workshop a few weeks ago. I had such a great time. My student said I need to raise my prices, so better sign up before I come to my senses! I supply you with all you need to get started in oil painting and provide 3 lessons in my studio. All you need to do is pay online and show up. I do all the shopping. Workshops are generally taught on Saturday mornings from 9am- noon in my studio at the Livestock Exchange Building. See my website store for more details and to sign up. Questions about lessons and workshops? Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I'm excited for spring and summer when I'll have more time to paint and get outside for inspiration! I'm taking commissions again now that I'm caught up from the winter. If you have a special person or place you'd like to have captured in paint, I'm your artist!
